Why Build a Garden Room?

A garden room built around everyday use

A well-designed garden room provides a separate space without moving house. The right layout starts with what you want to do there: focused work, training, music, art, hobbies or time with family.

Choose the space you need

Plan furniture and circulation before choosing the footprint. An office needs room for a desk, chair movement and storage. A gym needs suitable equipment clearances, an engineered floor and appropriate ventilation. A studio benefits from useful daylight, glare control and any acoustic treatment required for its use.

Comfort throughout the year

TRJ’s typical garden-room construction uses 125mm SIP walls and 150mm roof and floor systems. The complete design also needs suitable glazing, sealed joints, ventilation and heating or cooling. Insulation alone does not establish the performance of a finished room.

Finishes and services

Choose timber, composite cladding or render around appearance and maintenance. Discuss sockets, lighting, internet, flooring and storage at the design stage. A WC or shower room adds water, drainage and ventilation considerations.

Budget and approvals

TRJ bespoke garden rooms start from £1,400 per square metre including VAT. The final quotation depends on the design, ground conditions, access, glazing, services and finishes. Sleeping accommodation or a business receiving visitors can require a different approval route from a domestic office; explain the intended use before committing to a design.
