A ROOM YOU CAN USE IN EVERY SEASON

Comfort belongs in the design.

Your garden office should feel comfortable through a summer working day. Your annexe should provide a welcoming space when the weather turns cold. The right air-conditioning system starts with how you use the room, its layout and its insulation.

TRJ helps you choose a suitable unit and plan the installation, from the position of the indoor and outdoor units to pipework, controls and ongoing care. We work on garden rooms, granny annexes, homes and workspaces across Hertfordshire, Essex and Buckinghamshire.

MORE THAN SUMMER COOLING

Make the space work for you.

01

Temperature control

Set the room temperature around work, exercise, relaxation or family living.

02

Heating and cooling

A suitable reversible system can provide summer cooling and winter heating. The functions depend on the model selected.

03

Efficient operation

Capacity, insulation, glazing and everyday settings all influence energy use. We consider the room rather than choosing a unit by size alone.

04

Airflow and comfort

Positioning and clean filters matter. Filtration and humidity-control features vary by model; air conditioning does not replace ventilation.

ONE ROOM OR SEVERAL?

Split or multi-split. A clearer choice.

Both systems connect indoor units to an outdoor unit using refrigerant pipework and electrical connections. The right arrangement depends on the rooms you want to condition and the space available outside.

SINGLE SPLIT

One space. Its own system.

A single-split system pairs one indoor unit with one outdoor unit. It is often a practical starting point for a garden office, studio, gym or one-room annexe.

  • Dedicated temperature control for one room.
  • Indoor-unit position planned around furniture and airflow.
  • Timers and remote controls depend on the model.

Consider: outdoor-unit access, pipe route, drainage and the electrical supply.

MULTI-SPLIT

Several rooms. One outdoor unit.

A multi-split connects several compatible indoor units to one outdoor unit, with individual room controls. It can suit a home or annexe with several spaces, especially where outdoor-unit space is limited.

  • Different rooms can have their own temperature settings.
  • A choice of compatible indoor units and capacities.
  • One outdoor unit serving the connected rooms.

Consider: total demand, system compatibility and how the rooms are used together.

Multi-split arrangements and available controls vary by system. See Mitsubishi Electric’s multi-split information ↗.

LG & MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC

Performance is a combination of details.

Energy efficiency

Inverter technology can adjust output to demand. Actual running costs depend on the selected unit, the building and your settings; savings are not the same for every installation.

Reliability and durability

Choose equipment appropriate to the space and use. Correct installation and ongoing care help support dependable operation.

Controls and personalisation

Temperature settings, fan speeds and timers help you manage comfort. Wi-Fi control, filtration and other features are model-specific.

Quiet operation

Indoor and outdoor sound levels vary. We discuss positioning and suitable equipment for work, rest and neighbouring properties.

Professional installation

The system, pipework and electrical connections need to work together. We assess the building and agree the installation before work starts.

Ongoing maintenance

Keep filters and accessible components cared for as instructed. Ask TRJ about servicing to help maintain performance over time.

BEFORE YOUR INSTALLATION

Your questions, answered.

Can air conditioning heat as well as cool?

A suitable reversible air-conditioning system can provide both heating and cooling. We discuss the model and capacity around your room and its intended use.

Should I choose a split or multi-split system?

A single split serves one room with one indoor and one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several compatible indoor units to one outdoor unit. The choice depends on layout, demand and available outdoor space.

Can you install air conditioning in a garden room or granny annexe?

TRJ installs air conditioning for garden rooms, granny annexes, homes and workspaces. Unit placement, capacity, pipe routes and the electrical supply are considered for your particular building.

What maintenance does an air-conditioning system need?

Follow the selected manufacturer’s instructions for filter care and service intervals. Ask TRJ about maintenance and servicing for the equipment installed in your space.

How do I get an installation quotation?

Contact TRJ with your location, room dimensions and intended use. Photographs and a simple layout are useful starting points. We can discuss the system and installation requirements before providing a quotation.
